Woodchuck Granny Smith Hard Cider Review

Woodchuck Hard Cider Granny Smith
The deeper I dive into the world of hard ciders the more I appreciate what Woodchuck Cidery has to offer. A trip to Middlebury Vermont becomes more interesting with each bottle of Woodchuck Hard Cider I consume. Being that I'm already a fan of Woodchuck Amber and Hopsation, I've been excited to get my hands into more of their hard ciders. Lo and behold, a sweet six pack of Woodchuck Granny Smith found its way into my ice box! Part of Woodchuck's Core Ciders style group, Woodchuck Granny Smith Hard Cider is a varietal cider lovingly crafted with Granny Smith apples. The apples are allowed to ripen on the trees from the Yakima Valley, in Washington. Gordie says Woodchuck Granny Smith is top notch! Drink it out of the bottle if you have to, but if given the chance pour this beauty into a pint glass so that you can truly appreciate it. Light and pale in appearance, the Woodchuck Granny Smith has just a tinge of the color you'd see near the core of a Granny Smith apple. The first sip hits you with unmistakable green apple tartness. Right out of a crisp, perfectly ripen delicious Granny Smith apple. As you keep working on your bottle, or pint glass, the tart flavor gives way to a perfectly balanced "crisp" flavor that keeps you yearning for the next sip. Although sweet, the tartness makes it easy for you to enjoy drinking a second and third - as long as you're not driving of course! The "re-drinkability" of the Woodchuck Granny Smith is just awesome. Each sip finishes dry and leaves a pleasant tangy mouthfeel behind. I asked my co-connoisseur, Gordie the Bulldog, what he thinks and he's nominating Woodchuck Granny Smith as one of CiderConnoisseur.com's Top Rated Hard Ciders. Gordie knows his stuff, what he says goes around here.
